The Gem of Creation (Stone of Creation in its planar form) is the missing fragment of the Ruby Mountain of Tiamat, the head of the spear with which Minaya and Soluna defeated her in 1375 DR, and one of the three pieces of the Rod of Infinity.

Origin
The Calendar records that once Tiamat had silenced the tumult of the gods and Apsu was avenged, “the ruby mountain was left to her… of the missing piece of ruby, which would later be called the Gem of Creation”. Creation is embodied in it: whoever holds it can make worlds, or not.
Paulus of Alexandria, “like Prometheus”, stole from the gods dual magic, “a fire capable of burning the gods themselves”. Tiamat used it to sustain a long dominion of draining and subjugation, with the Gem at its center.
The Spear and the Last Judgment
A thousand years later Minaya and Soluna drove into the tyrant “the spear with the ruby point… the gem of creation”, and a new cycle restored the Cosmos. “1375 DR, Last Judgment: Minaya (27) and Soluna defeat Takhishis using the Spear and the Gem of Creation. The gods go back in time to 1348 DR.” Tiamat and Takhishis are the same entity.
Piece of the Rod of Infinity
With the Scepter of the Gods and the Stone of the Apocalypse it forms the Rod: Gem ← Scepter → Stone. The Gem is the founding piece. A later note suggests the Rod may itself belong to a larger structure.
Later history
- Alexandria clue (1784). In the gesta (campaign-cycle) of Les Libertateurs, Jock Sotot, the Antiterran face of Yog-Sothoth, covets this world because it holds the Gem. The last clue places it near Alexandria, by a lighthouse, about 1,700 years earlier, with the suspicion that Seth split it. It is tied to a mercane custodian; its last user was Arian Eldar, whose trail is lost in Sigil. The thread resumes in the Alexandria season of 1891.
- Eiffel Tower Tournament (1890 A.D.A.). The Gem was in three portions: two held by the Great Khan, one inside the Tarrasque, Seth’s representative. The winner had to join them in the Cup of the Hundred Wishes and make a wish. El Fabuloso, the Gnome of the Regulators, won and wished the Gem sent to vault U-5-7-1 of Union, city of the Mercane. Publicly a betrayal of the Regulators, it was privately an operation of the Boreal Bank with its planar partners.
Other appearances
- Lotario in the Uchronia — it is listed among his artifacts as a “Stone of Creation with the power of Mentifery/Essokinesis and Creation ex nihilo”; the mythologized version says Arian gave it to him before the Tribunal of Overgods.
- Welcome Back Henri — the portal-opening ruby inside the Tarrasque is later read as a fragment of the Gem.
- Coyote (1368 DR) — sacrificed by Kaxatros, his soul is trapped in a gem given as tribute to Graz’zt, who cannot yet use its dual secrets.
- La Jabalina / Caldero — a fragment is recorded in the vaults of Graz’zt.

- Whether Coyote’s gem is the Gem of Creation.
- What larger structure the Rod may belong to.
