The closing of the platforms ended the cycle of the Game of Shadows in Antiterra: on the night of 21–22 June 1784 A.D.A. (eve of Saint John’s Night; “Black Friday”), in New York just evacuated by the English, Les Libertateurs assaulted a lodge and the last platform, Aries, was closed.

The assault

Eleven platforms were closed. The lodge [[en/mirando-hacia-el-futuro|Mirando hacia el Futuro]] (“Looking Toward the Future”), a “creativity” front near Wall Street, sought to bring the Lord of the Gates into the world; there the mesmerist Black Adams recited Yog-Sothothic litanies that sickened its members. The Libertateurs fought tentacled aberrations in the precinct and sewers, then went down to a basement where a cosmic window opened toward Saturn.

  • Gideon, who had refused to spend the 24th and last host in Virgo, burned it in Aries. Guided by a prayer Billie Jean remembered from her mother (“the dark butterflies, the silence between the nights and the stars”), the invocation sealed the cage, trapping the Black Butterfly, guardian of all worlds.
  • Another companion bagged Black Adams into the microcosm woven into his zodiacal poker-table tunic.
  • The temple imploded; a smoke creature rose and was defeated. A Marut caught them on King Street “for the third time” and caused an earthquake before falling.

Aftermath

The Butterfly’s emissary, the Gray Nurse, took them into a bubble outside time and named the price: they “gave this world a chance at the cost of not giving it to all possible worlds”. The Bavarian edict of 22 June unmasked the lodge as the Illuminati of White Adams (Adam Weishaupt). The hunt for the “local front” and the search for the Gem of Creation in Alexandria followed.
