Platonic New York is the city of an alternate Earth in which the 9/11 attack was prevented and the towers never fell. To stop the crime, the city had to see it coming; from the “non-attack” grew a doctrine of crime prevention applied to everyday life.

Description
The city is called Platonic because it aspires to be the ideal city, the perfect form of itself: everything in its place, every deviation corrected in advance. It is also the New Rome, imperial order made city; its champion is named Centurion, the soldier of the city.
Powers of order
- Guardians of time track not only what was done but what will be done; their investigations cover the whole city.
- Corporations united in the Wanderers, a planetary cult that competes with itself but converges on one ideal — regulating what is done in the city. Mars Inc. is one of them.
Margins
- Folds outside time, such as the Dimensional Fold in Queens, where surveillance is lost and powers, spirits and crimes to come persist.
- Preventive ghettos for Muslims, segregated neighborhoods created in the name of the same prevention. Nadeem Abdullah came from them.
