The Emerald Lady is a presence in green robes that walks through walls — the form the city of New York takes — who assumed the mantle of its fallen guardian, Metropolis.

History

She appeared after the fall of Metropolis, guardian of the tempo, cut in two by a stray bullet (of the White Monkey) and a summoned scythe. She does not use doors or stairs: she passes through partitions, foundations and façades.

Nature

New York is a living organism, made of time more than concrete, whose Twin Towers vibrate, sing and beat. When its old custodian fell, the city gave itself a body. The Emerald Lady inherited the watch Metropolis kept over the averted 9/11 singularity: to keep the city, and the weave of time that sustains it, on its course.
