Auro, also called Suga or Suga Auro, is the guardian of divine grace whose domain is Prison Keep, a former lieutenant of the infernal forces who fell through a desire for power and is now dominated by an outside force. His solemn epithet is “Soter Auro Salvador Auro”.

Family
- Grandfather: a Pope, Sixtus, “the first of the terrible popes”.
- Father: a cardinal of “an important Spanish family”, sponsored by the one who had been Pope.
- Son (unnamed): killed a dragon with the dragon lance, finishing it “with a point, with the gem of creation”.
Auro is “the guardian of divinity, of divine grace”, and his realm is Prison Keep — something the companions who faced him do not yet know.
Description
The records give two figures with no link between them:
- He wears a golden cape that he does not take off even when flying; seen from the air, it earned him the nickname faisán dorado (“golden pheasant”), though some heard paisano (“countryman”). Both readings stand.
- A creature with infinite black wings that “lose themselves on every side, and in the end are his being”. He carries the sword of Sury and has deformed teeth. One of his hands, waved in the air, caught a kind of fire. He can vanish from sight.
History
- He earned the nickname Coyote fighting creatures.
- Twenty years ago he defeated Lord Soth in a duel without killing him. The loser saluted him, handed over the teva and rode off on his own nightmare horse: victory gives the right to the loser’s token, not his life.
- At some point he made himself a lieutenant of the infernal forces, while also guardian of divine grace.
- Fall: “a bad choice you made at the end… you let yourself be carried away by a desire for power that ended up destroying you.” Afterwards he was dominated by an outside force; an old comrade called him “an old companion of mine, and he is dominated”.
- His manifestation coincides with the event in which the Stone falls and Anubis and Sobek appear. There was a fight against him.
- He is placed in Madrid, and has left Milan (“the Golden Pheasant left… left again”). One record has him “still there in the bar” despite having been destroyed: the records hold a dominated Auro, a destroyed one, a rebuilt one and a traveling one.
Conflicting accounts
- Whether the golden-caped figure or the black-winged creature is his true form is disputed.
- His destruction, his reconstruction and his presence in Madrid may be successive states or competing versions.
Open questions
- Whether the black-winged creature is his true form or his aspect while dominated.
- Who or what dominates him, and since when.
- Whether he is still a lieutenant of the infernal forces, and how that fits with guarding divine grace.
- His son’s name, and why Auro once appeared in public with a dragon lance.
- What the teva given by Lord Soth is, and where it is now.
- Whether the Horsemen answer to him, as is suspected.
