Kendall is a companion in the New World group who enters as a human and comes out as something else: circuitry in his blood, lead in his heart taken from a sacrificed man, and implants that make his body an unanswered question.
He belongs to a cross-gesta (campaign-cycle) line linking him to Auro (CI), to Adam/Harlequin (Arian, the Descent) and to Ray. All are characters who undergo radical transformations: Auro becomes the Horseman of War, Kendall a cyborg, Adam Harlequin.
