The Band of the Dissolution (also Line of Dissolution, in the Gray Cosmogony) is the cosmological line that divides the two opposite halves of each platform of the Dual Universe.

Nature
It is not a wall but a boundary without thickness, where a being on one side loses its name and the being on the other receives it. On the First Platform it divides the volcanic lands of Arcacto from the frozen lands of the Snow Queen. At cosmic scale it is analogous to the Foundations that separate Torregrises from Torreluces.
History
The ruby ark
When Terra and Antiterra were going to collide, with the band closing over them, Cosmarca and his people used dual magic to shelter about 1,200,000 souls inside a ruby. The gem was cut as a whole world — protective outer layer, interior geography, closed sky, its own time: Vala Cristalis / Eilidh. The world of the Caldero / La Jabalina gesta is its interior.
The protective layer is of the same substance as the defenses of Lucifer in his Buckingham palace: a crystal veil that repels what should not enter.
End of the Antiterra cycle
On the A.D.A. axis, the band closes the cycle in 1901. Antiterra approaches it through the final arc, and the Regulators act with the band descending over them. Barbatos, First Lord of the First Hell, falls “on the very threshold of the band”, closing the Regulators’ era as active guardians. What follows is Sinterra — the synthesis — or nothing.
