The Dual Universe is the founding principle of the Torregrises setting: two twin cities joined by their foundations, opposed on the surface, complementary in function and unstable through imperfect symmetry.

Doctrine
Torregrises bears the weight of Chaos; Torreluces, the possibility of the Word. Neither exists without the other; neither can win without destroying both.
The Treatise of the Two Towers (uncertain origin) depicts it in two halves:
- Torregrises, la città di ombra: realm of the secret, time that does not cease, absent light, law of weight.
- Torreluces, la città di luce: realm of hope, time that returns, frequent light, law of the path.
- Center: the Band of the Dissolution.
- Below: the foundations (ivories, columns, plinths).
Its three warnings: Simmetria Imperfetta (the towers are unequal and their errors cannot cancel out); Verità del Sistema — “two cities, one world; two times, one instant; two lights, one balance”; Pericolo Supremo (the Band is widening; if the lights merge into one, the system falls).
The Band and the foundations
The Band, where the cities almost touch, widens with every intemperate act of either tower and narrows with every act of balance. The foundations cannot change sides; if the lower levels grow sad or dazzled, they stop working.
Fractal repetition
Each Platform is split by the Band and held by two opposed guardians: Arcacto and the Snow Queen on the First Platform. The Cosmic Numerical Base varies — twelve for the zodiacal system, also seven, five or three — but is never one.
Readings
Per the Decadian, the Pablo of Torregrises reads the Treatise as “tension that must not be resolved” where Paulus speaks of “cosmological harmony”; both readings are orthodox in their own archives.
