Terra Nova is the name of the world of the Gary, the New World cycle: neither Terra nor Antiterra but the third world left when both collapsed into one — a synthesis, the sediment of two fallen worlds.

Naming
For almost the whole gesta the world had no name: it was simply here, a fallen steel city on a lake in 1987. In the dome of the amber-flame lantern, Glob was handed a conch like a telephone and saw the OM sign floating red in infinite space: “I see a world and I’m confused. It wasn’t Terra or Antiterra, but just… Terra Nova. Good name for this world.”
Nature
The band of destruction (Band of the Dissolution) swallowed both Terra and Antiterra, the world and its different-but-same twin (Terra vs. Antiterra, Events of Antiterra). Terra Nova is what came after: everything in it is at once too much and too little; ancient magic crosses modernity as if never separated; Clara Kling said “reality is incomplete”.
The seam
Among the six doors of Iron Mountain (portals) one opens on Siberia, 1919, just after the Revolution, in the White Terror; it is said to show what happened on Earth once Terra and Antiterra collapsed into one. It is the point where the suture was made. Gary, Indiana stands on that door, on old iron lines the natives knew. Terra Nova names the world and the wound. Its future “if there is destruction” is 2087.
