Cosmarca is the primordial creator entity that made the spheres (the worlds) and the gods, and then withdrew. Also called the Prime Mover, it is the name finally found for “the spark”.

Description

Those who claim to have perceived it describe a body whose head is a closing fist: «Un cuerpo con una cabeza de puño» (“A body with a fist for a head”). The viewer feels “that hand gripping your mind”. Whether these are manifestations or hallucinations is not established. Beyond that image it is described only by extent: “It is everywhere. It is everything.”

Nature

Cosmarca creates spheres and gods, withdraws after each creation, and makes no new spheres: creation is closed. Every pantheon and world is its later work. It has no recorded seat or temple; there is only one. The principle that governs those who invoke it is that “the entity you called is neither good nor evil”: it acts by the principles of the universe, not in the caller’s interest.

It is reached only through delegates. Emissaries of Cosmarca travel the spheres and a traveler may contact them; an incarnate representative of Cosmarca in the world is proposed but unconfirmed. The rite calling a planar ally reaches an emissary, never the power.

Conflicting accounts

  • The world holds that Cosmarca is neither good nor evil.
  • “Many think” it sought to separate good from evil and keep the good: “to separate the chaff from the wheat, strength from weakness”. Who these “many” are, and whether the separation was ever attempted, is unresolved.

Open questions

  • How many spheres it created, and whether this world is one of them.
  • What the emissaries are; whether the representative exists, and with what powers.
  • Whether other numbers name other powers.
  • What relation it has to the pricing of souls.
  • Whether any cult or clergy exists in its name.
