Zirconium, or the Blue Stone, is a mineral from the Malvinas that the Esoteric Order of Dagon activated with blood in a lighthouse. The rite left in its place a hollow yellow-green egg that later served as a dream crystallizer.

Description
The scientists of the sixties call it zirconium, “element number forty”, “zirconia minerals”: cold, blue and extremely hard. Chemical analysis yields its composition, hardness and density, and nothing more. Science catalogs it, history finds it on disputed ground, and the Mythos uses it.
History
The niche under Top Malo
The stone came from a cavern beneath Top Malo’s house, at the bottom of a black lake from which the Deep Ones emerged, in a niche of worked stone older than time. It was cold in a way water is not. Two people carried it out after a massacre no one remembers clearly; it was heavy, as if unwilling to come. The widow left it to the group: “you will know what to do with this”.
The lighthouse rite
Placed in the lighthouse lantern and stained with blood (Dulce’s axe drew it first), the stone behaved as an organ: an esophagus, a sphincter asking to be fed. It beat like a lung and stank of “thousands of octopuses”. Fed, it turned the lighthouse into a column, a stone tentacle reaching north and out to sea, emitting a pink frequency that left the people below as passive, will-less zombies. Witnesses lost their sanity in cascade, suffered temporary madness and felt a pull toward the void.
The stone was the lure, the device the Order of Dagon wanted moved to the lighthouse and activated.
The yellow egg
After the rite the blue stone disappeared. In its place the group took a yellow-green ovoid, about 30 cm and 10 kg, that feels hollow and fragile, with a crystalline structure unlike any other. It whistles like bagpipes and seems to contain a world inside, like the land of the two suns of Carcosa. The original stone was larger and harder; the egg is probably its core. Held before the Gallic mirror, the egg opens an eye.
Properties
The egg works as a dream crystallizer. Antonio, also called Alex, who has contact with “the other side”, uses it to tune objects to the dream sphere beneath reality. It grants no stability or sanity; it gives direction, clues to what lies beneath without mixing the world further or opening more doors. It works as a compass pointing at what sleeps under reality.
Connections
- The archive tentatively matches the Blue Stone with the Arcanum, the cold, blue, primordial substance in the veins of Ardis Vala: two stones of different gestas (campaign-cycles).
- It is placed in a “line of crystal” that starts with Lucifer, who enclosed a world inside a crystal, and runs through Vala Terra Cristalis and the Lands of Crystallization; the egg holds Carcosa within a gem.
- As an egg it is paired with the Second Egg, which opens the Well of Light when it bursts and lets out what was imprisoned.
