Shobot (also Shobbot) is the name of an entity glimpsed in dream-visions as an eye behind the Gallic brass mirror, placed beneath the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Barracas and identified with the power that sank a ship in the South Atlantic.

The name

The group brought the name back from beyond dream, tied to what the totem coin showed when pointed south of Buenos Aires: the stone indicated the basilica. Beneath its nave, below the arsenal and lodge the temple hides, something is preparing; the vision called it Shobot. The name arrived deformed, still to be confirmed; Shobot is the dominant spelling over Shobbot.

Nature

Not a bodily creature but a presence, a gaze. When the yellow egg is exposed to the mirror, the egg opens an eye: the slit through which Shobot looks out from beyond the brass, on the dream frequency the egg and coin can tune. Around it the vision shows a hall of crystal circles that form a single organism: Shobot.

The sinking of the ship

The broken sailor Antonio Portet, also called Alex, the group’s only one in contact with what sleeps below, recognizes Shobot as the power that sank his ship and swallowed his crew; he survived by what he carries in his blood. The entity beneath Barracas and the horror at the bottom of the South Atlantic are one.

Yoigor

The visions also bring a name heard as Yoigor, almost certainly a dream-distortion of Yog-Sothoth, the key and gate of what lies outside time; it is recorded as an echo, not a confirmed identity. Behind the eye lies the depth that the Order of Dagon serves on land and sea.

Open questions

  • Whether Shobot is an avatar of Yog-Sothoth, one of its masks, or only a neighboring name.
  • What Shobot fully is.
