Description

She fled from Brockford. When the condors distribute the passengers among the island’s houses at nightfall, she opens her door with one smile too many. Her hospitality is a façade: under close attention something twists in her gaze. She studies the Argentines rather than welcoming them.

Her house holds photos of a man who may have been a Second World War officer, a .38 revolver under the bed and seamless garments. The seamless suits are the mark of the Order of Dagon, the batrachian brotherhood that worships Cthulhu from the sea floor. The house is also tied to the zirconium, underground caves and the Whalebone Monument.

Role

In public she drops references to the blue stone into her speech. In English and under her breath she coordinates with Joe Garfield the transfer of the cylinder and “the other”: you brought the other… bring it here. She knows the rite and her place in it, and prepares the coming of Cthulhu.

The hybrid son

She is the mother of the hybrid son, human through her and carrying the blood of the Deep Ones through his absent father, and in full metamorphosis toward the amphibian. He wants to descend and follow his father into the abyss; she holds him on land and in the human.

Open questions

  • The son’s metamorphosis is not complete, and the fate of the house remains open.
