Uchronic Guards are a magical role that temporal forces impose on individuals. Whoever is projected into the role of Guard of the Uchronic Mediterranean must carry out an assigned historical assassination. The roles are “motifs” tied to cosmic powers, following a symphonic composition (Wagner references). The central destiny cannot be changed, only who fills the role.

Mechanism
- Activating the Simultaneous Circle projects individuals to specific temporal coordinates, such as Sarajevo 1914. The occupants suffer partial amnesia and a magical compulsion to kill.
- If they refuse the role, replacement assassins arrive and the group is trapped or killed. If they accept, they complete the mission under partial mental possession.
- Whoever kills a Guard becomes the new Guard, keeping the full memories of the previous one (Claude receives 75 years of Cvjetko Popović’s memories) and suffering a permanent mental fragmentation. The Guard is connected to the Akashic Records, where cosmic destiny is inscribed.

In Uchronic Paris, the Simultaneous Circle on Serpent Island forces the Time Bandits into Guard roles for Sarajevo 1914. Claude / Popović embodies the role fully, Corvino escapes, Philippe teleports and Swan provides surveillance.
