The Submission of Indra is a ritual opera organized and performed by the Time Bandits in Kumal, at the close of Series 1 in Uchronic Paris. It works at once as an artistic performance, a diplomatic summons and a magical ritual, and is based on the Hindu myth of Indra (versions in the Brahmavaivarta Purana).
It convenes six cosmic factions. Swan creates 22 temporal clones as the chorus, and Aby invokes the ether, the fifth element. The result is a quorum and applause, but no formal alliance.
The opera as a narrative form connects to Wagnerian references, with the Uchronic Guards as symphonic “motifs.”
