Kazmojen — “lord of the Malachite Fortress and master of the bazaar of flesh and life”, per Mascor Blancarba — was the sub-lord of the clandestine network beneath Caldero, a trafficker in children and slaves. La Jabalina (the Javelin) killed him.

The bazaar
He ran the Bazaar of Life, a gallery where creatures of the Underdark and slavers bargained in whispers; at its center waited chained children, among them the four orphans of Lantern Street. His trade included:
- orphans kidnapped by surface agents such as the gnome locksmith Keygan Ghelve;
- outside clients, possibly surface nobles such as Lord Valanthru;
- hypothetically, if the children bore zodiacal marks for the Cageewrights prophecy, selling the ritual’s human material as an intermediary of the negative pole.
He is recorded as a sub-lord of the intermediate negative pole, subordinate to greater forces he did not fully know. He commanded hobgoblins as guards, slavers, grotesque dwarves as intermediaries, and the Howler, “half troll and half infernal beast”, as his pet.
Death
La Jabalina entered the bazaar posing as buyers, with Lukas speaking and Foggimer and Teo behind. A grotesque dwarf intermediary sneered: “Are you here to trade or to die? The children already have buyers.” When he said the children would be sold within moments, Teo ran him through with his rapier.
Kazmojen burst from a side room with his huge hammer: “Wretches! You will pay for this with your lives!” Hobgoblins and slavers attacked; when the Howler returned, a hidden figure cast a spell that held it suspended in the air, spreading panic. Foggimer blocked Kazmojen’s blows with his shield while Lukas and Teo struck, and after an exhausting fight the group killed him and his henchmen. The hammer, used more for torture than for fighting, was left on the gallery floor.
The group freed the children and took them to the surface in the fortress’s old elevator. The Howler’s fate is not fully recorded. The trafficking network was interrupted, not destroyed; other sub-lords could take it over.
