Rulfo is the guardian of the Lantern Street Orphanage in Caldero. His rescue from the Company of Laughter set off the first mission of La Jabalina (“the Javelin”).

Description
An ordinary man — not an adventurer, cleric or noble — who protects the orphans, maintains the orphanage building and works with the elderly halfling Gretchyn Tashykk, who runs its internal administration. Jaromir is one of the orphans in his care.
History
When the orphans of Lantern Street began to disappear — victims of the trafficking ring run by Keygan Ghelve and Kazmojen — Rulfo investigated on his own, without resources or military training.
The Company of Laughter, hired killers with faces painted half white and half black, caught him in a dark alley off the Magma Avenue and were torturing him when La Jabalina passed by. After the group’s wizard cast a sleep spell, Ayrton Auslander approached the last thug standing and whispered “home”; the man fled in terror. Lukas and Foggimer carried Rulfo to the orphanage, Foggimer casting a minor healing spell on the way. Belicio also took part in the rescue.
Rulfo survived and recovered at the orphanage while the band completed his original task: finding out why two boys and two girls had disappeared.
Role
In the present cycle he serves as the band’s informant on the orphanage and the rescued children, coordinates the orphans’ care with Gretchyn, and supports the NGO founded by Teo.
