Gary, Indiana (New World) is a steel city in the United States and the main setting of the 1987 gesta (campaign-cycle) of Gary, the New World. A former industrial power fallen to the Iron God, it has cold furnaces, ash-colored cooling towers and empty parking lots where twelve-hour shifts once ran.
A network of caverns beneath its streets connects to the Crystal Tower and Iron Mountain. Two facts mark it in the popular imagination: Michael Jackson was born here, and the steel left.
