Roderick
Roderick, a paladin and the diplomat of the group, negotiated with Sir Caltis, freed slaves and carried the egg of RAJ-750 (the AI of the Beacon’s weapons module, later destroyed by Ritornello). At the funeral of Bobelo/Gobello he prayed to Jamalio, sun god of the Andal pantheon. He died near the Oceanic Doors in the middle arc, leaving the negotiations unfinished.
Valerius
Valerius was trained as a squire (varlet) inside the Order of the Scar of the Sun, founded by Master Malakita in 1123 AEP. He witnessed its corruption — vampiric leadership, atrocities, the perversion of the solar faith — and deserted to join the Seekers, leaving the Order but keeping his devotion to the sun. As an inquisitor he hunts heretics and the corrupt, his former brothers included.
Role in the final confrontation
Valerius is the moral axis of the final confrontation. His position: the individual knights deserve redemption, but the head — Malakita, the deceiving Rudishva vampire — must be destroyed.
In the middle phase of the first cycle, Alúmine beheads Malakita, and the group eliminates the Masracht of the Palace of the Prism. The companions take over the Order, and Valerius returns to the Scar of the Sun, on its clean side.
