Description
A son of farmers, no ballad hero, with a yew longbow and a green-brown camouflage cloak: the valley’s “Strider of Bree”.
History
- Baron Arbúz. The librarian of Pope Alejandro (celestial authority with Paulus of Alexandria) names him “Baron Arbúz, vanished 15 years ago”. Decio calls himself only “Decio Balmora, of the Guard of Woodsmen of Valdemora”. The link is open; probably a noble identity from before the ashes.
- The ashes. Fifteen years ago, in “the ashes” (4,000 vanished), his castle fell into a crevice; it lies in rubble 20–40 meters below the cliff. He survived because he was away hunting.
- Lali. “The most beautiful” was his love and his loss; for her he left Mirela Valka, a local noble. But Lali was the wife of Baron Argus and ended as concubine of Caladan. Lost when the Citadel sank, she was found after the Hiatus corrupted in a well: “you weren’t there then, I have a new lord” — pointing to Caladan. Carad de Teyber, new lord of panthers, figures in her corruption. The group beheaded her and chased her body down a tunnel.
- With the Seekers. Seeking Mirela’s children Luminita and Dracos, gone after a dragon cult, he joined the group against the traitor Carad and was teleported with it to the Palace of the Prism by a prismatic pentagram trap.
Companions: Bayrum, Alúmine, Valerius Utrecht. Estellara is the allies’ inn; Estorrisco, a guide he knew.
Conflicting accounts
- An earlier record made Lali Decio’s wife; the current record makes her Argus’s.
