History
A Methodist church founded by William Simmons in Gary’s good years, it had under a thousand worshipers by 1972 and closed in 1977, ten years before the events.
Description
The doors hang off true; the pews are broken or burned; trash from unholy gatherings piles by the pulpit. Two rows of pillars lead to the head of the nave. Around each pillar, carvings like spiderwebs and faces vanish when seen sidelong; demonic faces above. Deep inside, the ceiling becomes spiderweb.
At the end lies a six-meter circular pool of glassy, stagnant liquid. A rotting wooden mural behind it keeps only the face and shoulders of a blackened, furious Virgin. Each hand holds an apple-sized gem — the one the group had and lost, and one like a green stone heart; one of the two is the Green Gem of the Werewolf. From both pours an emerald liquor, half blood, half plant, that fluoresces at dusk.
Events
- Francis Le Pen’s chest was opened with an obsidian dagger; his heart was not flesh but lead, the basest matter, offered as food for the gods. By oral account, Jean-Baptiste held the knife.
- “The goddess”, the dark swordswoman the captives saw from their cocoons, appeared here: Rachel Betta.
- The monofilament whip, not of this century, rose liquefied from the pool.
- Kendall began to stop being what he was.
The Arachnids’ drawings were on the pillars before anyone arrived. The Station is the other way underground.
