The Scarlet Company is the old inner circle of the valley’s woodsmen, core of Valdemora. Members carry a location code; Decio Balmora convenes it.

The tower
Its sole meeting point: the old tower by the river, near the bridge. Betrayal means death, as two always-cited cases recall: the malevolent druid called the Gray, and the recent case of Numa Pompilius.
The tower was haunted for decades by Nieman; his wife was sacrificed to Set, her reliquary left among the victims. When the Seekers undid that altar, he left, saying: “now death comes to take this territory”. The Company meets under it; in Helix it is being fulfilled.
The tree shoot
At the last recorded meeting Decio laid on the central stone the shoot of the Weapon Tree, whose seed had been RAJ-750, the star-born weapons-module intelligence that razed Ritornello and called the group family. The parent tree grew metallic in the depths, forge-planted by the Priscians.
Salazar, druid-lord of the southern forests, was wary (“the corrupt with the corrupt”) and recalled the kumal, a chronomantic tree grown in a place that does not exist. Decio argued it is unique, needs double protection (hidden from outsiders, the world shielded from it), and that cloning the enemy tree helps study the enemy. Salazar planted it near the borders he watches, beside the Caves of Chaos, where unnamed cults prepare. Tracking it is a standing agenda item. Those who brought it never returned from the barrows; it grows on.
