Casemiro is a druid of the Black Forest circle, born a tiefling and transformed into a simar. A primordial druid prophesied that he would become Hierophant; the prophecy is unfulfilled.

Description
About 1.80 m tall and bony, with a protruding frontal oval (“not horns, but very much bone”) and deep eyes that move at night “as if it were day”. He is very black and shiny, and kept that blackness when burned — twice; he survived both times.
He wears a black cape over fine armor, a top hat, a belt and out-of-date fashion, with sandals of living plants. His companions call him the man “of the concrete jungle”, for his urban look and because he does not know the trails of the island where he now moves.
His druidic speech sounds “almost animal, a hidden language of noises”. Seen through a mental bond, his mind is “a huge tree at rest”: calm, balanced, wiser than expected.
Powers and abilities
- Deep knowledge of nature; the only one in his company seen manipulating water, earth and acid.
- Turns into a large wolf, mid-run, and into a small bird that blends into a flock of tropical birds; flies and guides his band from the air.
- After a crisis of faith he took his first steps toward sorcery.
Equipment
A long wooden shield, an oak staff, a longbow won in combat, and a cold-iron weapon left to him by Dardín before he went away.
The hosts
Casemiro is the keeper of the hosts. He held one in secret, and it was lost; a loss in his hands counts as a loss for the whole company.
History
Raised by the Black Forest circle, he was recently near La Carabarte and in the forests of his homeland. He now moves through the Hotel Astra, the Guardilla, and an island with beaches and tropical birds, in charge of the group’s security — though “a bit of a slacker”.
The Sphinx, a stone creature, held him prisoner for some days on an alternate plane, then released him. In a past incarnation he worked under the sun in a concentration camp. Once, heading to the Guardilla for his belongings, he turned back to the hotel halfway.
Conflicting accounts
- One isolated account calls him a paladin; all others say druid.
Open questions
- What a simar is, and what the transformation from tiefling implies.
- What the hosts are, how many exist, and what losing one entails.
- Where La Carabarte is; the name may be garbled.
- The conditions for becoming Hierophant; the primordial druid’s name.
- Who Dardín was and why he left.
- Why he turned back from the Guardilla, and where the trip ended.
