Not to be confused with York, the medieval English city and region of the DR axis.
New York is a city of the American continent in the uchronic universe of Antiterra (Demonia), appearing in two eras of the A.D.A. axis: a revolutionary colonial city and an industrial city of gangs.
Era I — Revolutionary (c. 1715–1784 A.D.A.)
In the arc of Pretty Women, the group travels from Antigua (where they contact the World of Dreams and Atlantean guardians) to Alexandria, Virginia, and then to New York. There they ally with the giant Washingstorm, a figure fusing Washington with an elemental power of the storm, to help him build a new nation after defeating “the English devils”.
Threats come from Masonic-occultist organizations funded by “ultraprogressive” interests with a cosmic connection (Yog-Sothoth), countered by new allies, the Atlantean Swallows. Local druids charge Casemiro, the group’s druid, with closing the circulus druidorum: “any point where you find yourself can be both the beginning and the end.” American independence in Antiterra is cosmological as well as political: the American Eagle also inspires the later fall of the Bastille.
Era II — Industrial, gangs (1888+ A.D.A.)
In the period of alchemical industrialization, in the arc of the Deep Ones and the Regulators, New York is a city of gangs, described as a “tremendous pustule”: a Victorian-steampunk metropolis where alchemy was never abandoned for modern chemistry. It is an active port in the Regulators’ arc. Trafficking in bodies under bribable officials and bladed violence (duels with swords and sabers still current) mark the atmosphere.
