Kraken’s Cove is a sea-access cave fortress in the Bay of Blood, north of Tortuga and Haiti in Antiterra: the secret anchorage of Blackbeard and the scene of the heaviest loss of Les Libertateurs.

On a cliff coast twenty to thirty miles from Tortuga, it has a sixty-foot mouth and a cavern half a block wide, lit by phosphorescent sponges. Blackbeard kept here his ship, which never sailed again after the assault on Tortuga, and the stolen chest of dragon eggs. Its two pristine eggs, of tin and copper, later gave birth to Bronzo, raised by Krisina in the Atlantia.
The company flew in by roc from Tortuga and, after long debate (invisibility in Oratiol’s sphere, walking on water, charming the guards), attacked in the small hours. In the battle of the grotto (Part IV, 1784 A.D.A.), Blackbeard fought beside his lieutenant the Mercain, a four-armed giant; Casemiro, Magda (later a ghost) and Juan Jerez fell.
