Mortan is a cleric of Thoth and the healer of the company of Los Condenados. His resurrection was the visible price of the company’s pact, and Pope Alejandro Sixto later occupied his body in the arena of Arden Vul.

Description
A slight man in his twenties in ill-fitting armor, armed only with a long staff and a holy symbol. Offered the sun of justice, he chose knowledge and destiny: the scales weighing feathers against a heart. As healer he gambled the good cider on a dying companion and freed paralyzed comrades finger by finger.
History
- Tribunal of Helix. Vicar Otar named him “priest of the day”, go-between for prisoners and sanctuary. He asked for a fair trial and defended Silas. When a horde returned, he, Otar and a repentant guard cast a synchronized spell that paralyzed the three traitors. He later defended Héctor Risco before the mob.
- Death. When the revived Silas came onto the road with his coffin, the torch-specters drained Mortan to absolute death.
- Resurrection. He was raised on Silas’s skull inside a five-pointed star, his name shouted three times, with the wish to undo the harm “as if nothing had happened”. Reborn from dust, he was told Hell was waiting for him.
- The arena. In Arden Vul, Pope Alejandro Sixto, answering the bait of the profaned Abbot, took Mortan’s body while Mortan watched from the papal throne those carrying the egg. Through his mouth the Pope declared that the company must destroy its companion’s body, the weakness for which it had made the pact. The company invoked Belial, and the Weapons of the Tree, the Life-Drinker wielded by the one who was Kira, tore that body apart.
He now marches among Los Condenados, collected twice: by specters and by the devil.
Conflicting accounts
- At the execution on the altar, one version puts the mace in the dwarf’s hands, another in Mortan’s.
