The Tablet of Chaos (sometimes the Tablets of Chaos) is an object that the Abbot of Helix ordered the sanctuary group to retrieve, probably from the Barrowmaze. Its nature is unknown, and it remained unrecovered at the close of the present cycle.

The commission
The Abbot gave the order before the day of the broken altar. The original deadline of thirty days was cut to seven by a raven the Abbot sent from the road to the regional capital. His formula: “vuelvan con las tabletas o no vuelvan” (“come back with the tablets or don’t come back”). The account alternates between the singular and the plural.
It is not known whether the object is an engraved stone tablet or a series of related tablets, whether its content is astral, or whether its function is ritual or practical. What is recorded is that the Abbot needed it urgently and sent the group to look for it somewhere in the Barrowmaze.
The warlock’s attempt
When the Abbot’s Inquisition imprisoned the group for human sacrifice and demon worship, the Tablet had still not been found. In the cell, the warlock Silas made a pact with the demon Quasi, who offered, among other things, knowledge of the Tablet’s location and promised to guide him.
Silas never received that guidance. He entered the Consecrated Church with the corrupted twin guards and spoke his wish: “Deseo saber el lugar de la tableta del caos” (“I wish to know the place of the tablet of chaos”). Vicar Otar answered: “Vas a morir antes” (“You will die first”). A body-holding spell, synchronized with Mortan, paralyzed the warlock, and a mace blow to the skull ended the wish before it was granted.
Status
At the close of the present cycle the Tablet remains unknown and unrecovered. The Abbot’s deadline is still running; his demand will resume when he returns from the regional capital. The object belongs to the arc of Los Condenados. The Seekers of Ardis Vala, a northern group, could cross paths with the search on descending south.
Open questions
- What Quasi did with the information. Quasi remains free and active in the district and could offer it to another pact-maker.
- Whether the Tablet lies in a specific barrow of the Barrowmaze, as the Abbot presumes; this was not confirmed.
- Whether it is connected to the gem-world Vala Cristalis, the cosmology of the earlier Caldero, or belongs to the valley’s own geography. The name “Chaos” suggests an ancient cosmological reading, not necessarily a local one.
- Whether there is one Tablet or several.
