History
Tied to the Atlantean Sparrows, he carries a broken cubic gate (“time is money”). His mother’s prayer is the voice that guides the invocation that cages the Black Butterfly at the closing of the platforms.
In Alexandria in 1900 he kills the Guardian of Libra and takes over the lighthouse-balance, the platform of Libra made lighthouse, the pointer of the world’s scales. He is thus the same “Billy Jean” who reappears in the Alexandria of later gestas (CFA). Defeating the guardian and occupying his house is an instance of the dual corruption.
Three namesakes
Three figures with similar names are kept apart:
- Billie Jean (this entry) — half-elf thief of New York, later Guardian of Libra in Alexandria, 1900.
- Juan Jerez — a Spanish bard and hired killer of the Pretty Women thread (Antigua, Tortuga, the count of the 68/69 maidens); a different person.
- The half-orc shaman of the Regulators — a late figure of Cairo and Venice with a foul-mouthed brother, who faces a pit fiend and hears at Buckingham Lucifer’s offer concerning the Vala Cristalis (Paladin in Hell). Of another era and race; whether he is a separate character or a confusion is unresolved.
