The Green Dragon is a serpentine, feathered creature that guards the territories of the continent and lairs on the eastern side of the Ohio River, where Los Malditos (the Damned) found it.

Description

It possibly has Mesoamerican, quetzacuate-like traits (a low-confidence note). It spits an acid miasma, its breath rots maize, and it can slightly control nearby vegetation. Another record makes it a manifestation of the Serpent of Paradise, able to move among the trees and to instill fear of death. With a she-dragon it fathered a smaller son. It is also named in the Canagua Valley.

History

Its accounts are fragmentary: it was held prisoner by Sequoia; it appeared by the fire during a night watch; it is part of the curse on a company since a ship was abandoned; and on another day it was defeated, and Teodora took its head to the cellar as an act of mourning.

Open questions

  • Whether the prisoner, the apparition and the beheaded dragon are one creature or links in a green lineage is unresolved.
