Secoya is the daughter of Pocahontas and the architect of the underground chamber in the Canagua Valley where the Green Dragon was imprisoned. She built the prison with “strange and powerful nature magic”: magical chains with an erotic-literary aesthetic that whisper secret stories. Her magical tradition is explicitly female and matrilineal.

She abandoned the chamber, and her destination is unknown. Her grandfather is Sequoia.

The illustration shows the chamber as a forest turned cathedral, with trunks as columns, roots as ribs and oval niches holding a golden light, crossed by enormous chains hanging in glowing curves. She stands with her back turned, both hands on a link, listening to it; the prisoner is not visible.

Connections

  • The chains’ aesthetic connects with the witchcraft of the second-circle figure (Inferno) and with serpentine magic.
