The Dragon Staff is the central magical artifact of Arc III–IV. Each charge requires a seventh-degree spell. It is linked to the Silver Chains.
History
- It was created within the tradition of dragon control, the matrilineal line Sequoia–Rebecca–Secoya.
- It is revealed to be the spine of the wife of the Green Dragon.
- The witches of the Dutchman used it obscenely.
- It ends in the hands of the Black Prophet in New Amsterdam. Tomwell is torn apart and his spine is made into a second Dragon Staff.
- Its location, transmitted to the dragon at Farruco’s fall into the well, leads to its being found by Vermir, which triggers the close of the gesta.
