Description
Near-black blade with iridescent veins and faint hieroglyphs; hilt carved as an ibis, bird of Thoth, beak as guard and folded wings as grip.
Properties
- Compass. The magnetic blade turns northwest, toward the Crown, the Khepresh lost since Akhenaten. Carlo Monteverdi discovered this; Camille confirmed it by floating it in a basin.
- Key. At the cliff in the Red Desert, it fits exactly into the figure of a child carved on Akhenaten’s stela — a child absent from every Amarna record — and opens the temple’s ibis-wing doors.
History
From the late Von Petersdorf’s estate, it was auctioned in Boston, stolen by Vita (who got a forgery) and taken by Camille to Egypt. Finally Irti returned it to the Guardians of the Desert; it remains set in the stela as a permanent key.
