Description
She is competent and passionate, wears a revolver, and is manipulable through her own idealism. She believes she is on a scientific expedition. She works at the excavation directed by Gunther Roeder.
Role
Camille identifies her as both resource and target, seduces her in the camp showers under the moon and, floating the dagger in a basin, reveals the northwest heading (toward the Red Desert) and that Morand lied to her.
Victoria is not a passive victim: angry, she proposes the dynamite herself and at dawn blows up the provisions to cover the trio’s escape. She then keeps up the lie before Morand (“I’m an archaeologist, not a spy. I sleep soundly”), with a mark on her neck and a secret smile. In the epilogue Camille names her strategic adviser in the new government.
