Description
A charming academic: bald, with spectacles on a chain and ink-stained fingers. He is Camille’s oldest friend, and she trusts him more than anyone. He receives the group at Shepheard’s Hotel. On seeing the Dagger of Thoth he reacts with shock: “I can’t believe you have the dagger.”
Role
He makes the central revelation of the chronicle: the dagger is not the treasure but the key. Made of magnetic meteoritic iron, it works as a compass toward the Blue Crown of War, the Khepresh, lost since the time of Akhenaten. “Lost. Hidden. Protected.”
In the suite of Paul Morand he is hung upside down from the terrace, seven stories above the void, as extortion. Teddy Bennet saves him with the master lie (Lady Carter). Later he is captured and tortured by Morand’s agents.
