Rumors
Convoy soldiers and northern watchtowers whisper that she fought in the Blood War of the abyss against the hells. On the fourth day, in Nothenvell, Uken said that a terrible creature serves the enemy as a kind of general and has a non-military bond with the company. The ancient obsidian the company identified served to encapsulate someone; demons answer to their name; and a relative has better odds of obtaining that name than an army.
A story of uncertain truth tells of a Great Khan of Nightmares whose games included a Jack of Diamonds who captured a six-armed being, named her Six of Swords and sealed her in obsidian.
The new warlord
On the fifth day she was named warlord of Calíope, the ice queen, whose court neighbors the elven realm of Aurora Polaris and whose alliance with Bythamar is unexplained. A stone-counting giant said that in the Halls of Frost a tiefling relative of the general (nephew or grandson) is partnered with the shaman. The company later fought him there; Dandy let him go. An augury had said: el ardor del amor ha traído el frío (“the ardor of love has brought the cold”).
The true name
After the relative of the Halls was freed, Dandy said Calíope would know Ajani’s true name. He holds that she serves unwillingly, wants to break free and, once free, would return to the Blood War; his companions consider that unproven. Karlstorf’s court gives her a role in a wider war. The company has not yet reached Calíope, obtained the name or freed her. She is not to be confused with the aunt held in the black dagger.
