Ungarn is a walled transit town at the center of a Mist domain built from fragments of primary worlds inside the Ethereal, where the mists decide when visitors may leave. Its rulers seek a contract to be entered in the Hall of Records of Sogol.

Description
It has an inn with vampiric imagery and an endemic illness, the white sickness, a slow anemia; the houses of the infected were once burned.
Mayor Félix Hoyer rules with his wife Antonieta, who runs the hospital. Silvania, artist and innkeeper, is made up like a corpse, with shadow servants and an inverted cross. All three do not walk in daylight.
History
The company of Sogol crossed over from the land of Ice through a blizzard.
- Eliza and the wolves. Eliza, about twelve, barefoot in the snow among a dozen-plus wolves, asked them to tell her mother, Huilda, she was well. A wolf, Tepe, walked with them but would not enter Ungarn. Antonieta swore Eliza had died in the first wave of the sickness twelve years earlier.
- Lucio. Lucio woke with two faint marks on his neck. At the hospital the Hoyers dominated him, learned what he knew of the angel and the tools, and sent him back demanding the hammer and chisel as surety. His companions did not obey.
- Huilda. Living at the town gate, she suffered a stroke; with Lirio’s hand on her she said that Félix killed or took her daughter, that she cursed him, and that the key lay behind a gargoyle: the white rose.
- The crypt. Behind a one-winged gargoyle lay a spore-filled crypt only a paladin could cross, a dead guardian who charged life for passage, and a chapel with seven white roses of eternal rest. Taking them darkened the chapel forever. Lem died there; he later returned. Choosing their companion over justice, the company withdrew; Ungarn returned the hammer and chisel.
- Lirio alone. He killed the mayor’s two chained winter wolves, fell into a centipede pit, and bargained not for revenge but for Eliza’s rest. Taken to her by sleigh, he followed her until dawn, pinned her with a white rose, staked and beheaded her. He left the Mists with a head and a debt of a year and a day.
The contract
The Hoyers wanted a contract entered in Sogol’s Hall of Records: a city they “always wanted”, where their kind can walk in peace. Lirio accepted, knowing that titles in that Hall are recorded by a modron of his own company.
