Jean-Baptiste is a Haitian detective, the most adult of the New World group. He delivers the final blow to the arachnid guardian of the Crystal Tower without knowing that whoever kills the guardian inherits the role. For months he schemes to capture the Iron God while escaping the guardianship he has earned.
Similar characters appear in other gestas: the Hessian General (in Libertateurs) and Maristo in the Descent, all adult strategists inclined toward roles of authority or guardianship.
