Garkhan is a hybrid of an ifrit body and a dragon’s essence carrying a fragment of Declan, and so bears two minds in one body. A barbarian, oracle of the Dark Tapestry and Wordbreaker, he is lord of the Black House.

Description

About 1.90 m tall, “half-Mongol”, long black hair; once tanned, now pale. His body shows each layer:

  • Ifrit: eyes that “at times are literally fire, and then barely turn amber”.
  • Dragon: scales on the upper arms and torso, half green and half black, some like drawings, the torso’s “half rusted at the tips”.
  • Shadow Scar: scars from his captors that follow the bone, so that in some light “it is as if you saw his skeleton”.

The scaling advances; he grows ever more “dragonish”, perhaps to the neck.

Powers and abilities

In combat fury covers him in reptile scales and turns his hands into claws; in rage he becomes “like the serpent, with half green, bluish scales”. His full form is a half-man, half-dragon hybrid; by shapechange he can also become a Lizalfos. Afterwards he is exhausted. He carries a sleeping adult “like a sack”. A curse makes him speak Celestial instead of Common in combat, and he fears total darkness.

He wears mithril armor, the black, red and gold robes of the Black House and the oracle’s star-flecked robe, and carries his grandfather’s dagger.

Role

As oracle he speaks the past, not the future. He calls himself Prophet of the Dragons and Heir of the Dragons of Time; Declan brings the visionary, alien bond, the dragon the blood. He is also called “Garkham, founder of the Worldbreakers”.

History

He conquered the Black House with decisive help from Sheridan. His nemesis, a visitor from the plane of shadows tied to the Dark Folk, kidnapped him to extract dragon blood for a summoning or mutation; the Kittones experimented on him, leaving the Shadow Scar. He is obsessed with a dark being hidden beneath a city. Garkhan dies in a time of rest between gestas.

Conflicting accounts

  • His combat form is called “the man of the label”, “man of the mixed scales” and “half man, half dragon”; whether these are one form is unrecorded.
