Description

He carries smoked goggles on his forehead, a monocle, a belt with “lots of little things” and a handbag (“heavy handisack”). He bears no visible weapons; his boots show little wear.

He has a 115-year gaze with white eyes and a pearly-silver gleam, long hair “of silver threads, more than white”, pointed ears, and muscles that shine “as if of silver”. Over this he wears mithril armor — “quite light, of elven make” in one description, “a beautiful mithril armor” with capes and robes in another; a broken passage adds “a stripe with diabolical robes”.

His ten fingers are thin, long, claw-tipped and all black, like a glove though he wears none. Four versions explain them: painted, tattooed, burned in the past, or smeared or scorched black.

Origins

He is a Turaño elf by ethnicity but has no kin: a “sorcerer of the stars” who “comes from the stars”. His territory is an access, not a place: the Akashic planes and records. He had adventures in “a Sumer of 4,000 years”. A tablet bearing his seal circulates as a document.

Abilities

He works as an investigator, entering by the psychic side and “the chemistry of his brain”: he accesses others’ personal histories and modulates perception. He writes only what the records dictate. He sometimes takes narcotics, and has had visions in the style of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, seeing everyone as lizardfolk.

Role

His title is “pact-breaker, word-breaker”, and he named his band the Wordbreakers. His tablet seals contract terms: if the group fails within a year, it becomes the King’s property. He was “the noble and gallant leader” who carried the group, and the only one who said he was not in favor of the apocalypse. He also confessed to betraying the group.

He later manifests again, having reached an evolution, as the Great Khan reached his new form. Behind him lies a lost earlier identity, forgotten or vanished.

Open questions

  • The cause of the black fingers, and any link to his automatic writing.
  • Whether the two armors are two pieces or two moments.
  • What he betrayed, and when.
  • His former name, and how he lost it.
  • What the tablet binds him to, who carries it and what it is made of.
