The Carnival of Venice (~February 1902 A.D.A.) is the first gathering of all the Guardians of the zodiacal platforms, held in Venice under a sanctuary of non-aggression. GRDT was expected to reveal “the secret of how to keep Antiterra from being destroyed”.

Three phases
“Kaká Bartim” supplied the gondoliers. The carnival had three phases:
- GRDT’s nominal gala, which summoned the Guardians.
- Lucifer’s lobby for a “new world” of refuge: Antiterrans evacuated to Lucifer’s world, the platforms suspended or opened.
- Graz’zt/Tyriel as full master in the last days: the Basilica-casino (“Regulators invited”), Lucifer relegated. Delivering Antiterra to darkness is Graz’zt’s wedding gift in exchange for Sigil.
Countdown and outcome
A countdown (30 days → 24 → 16 → 13 February) ran under an anti-teleportation mythal and perimeter wards, toward the plenary of 14 February, where the 24 Guardians would vote to “open the world”. Instead of the agreed evacuation, the Pillar of Nothingness was planted where the Lion of Saint Mark stood, and Morán’s wedding was celebrated, Graz’zt’s gift.
It connects with the Guardians’ meeting in Uchronic Paris.
