History

The dabus raised the arch in nine days next to where soup is served, with a sealed wall blinding it, working floating and silent under glowing rebuses.

On the day of the last stone a final rebus floated over the work: a sharp black glass, a darkness with ellipsis dots, and a serpent that does not close its mouth on its own tail. The alley boys, who had been betting, read it as not yet: the duration has not completed the cycle. The builders left a hammer and a chisel at the arch’s foot; Lucio later picked them up.

On the night of the boots the arch breathed out frost and opened just wide enough for five fleeing people. On the other side was the mouth of a stone colossus, which spat them into the blizzard of an icy country, before the Temple of Ashtar of the Ice. Uken was waiting there.

Properties

Sogol’s portals open when their time comes; the dabus build them in advance — nine days or a hundred years before.
