History

  • 1050. A younger Theodora receives the Time Bandits in the palace gardens, won over by Swan’s poems, gifts and Olaus’s recommendation. When the “guardian angel of the hammer” accuses them of bearing a cursed book, Corvino wins a trial by combat; she keeps them for missions.
  • She later seeks help against an intrigue of the Yellow Lady and demonic emissaries.
  • Black Queen. After Zoe’s death she seizes total power, summons the Venerables, demands the “Black Book” (necronomicon, “laws of the dead”) to raise Zoe, founds the Black House, and turns to dark magic. She decrees the Funeral Games in the Hippodrome, grudgingly rewards the winners with a proto-Popular Senate, and does not get the book.

A plate shows her in lace mourning, crowned with raven wings and antlers.

Notes

  • Zoe is called both her companion and her sister.
  • Distinct from Theodora, a companion.
