Mahakala is a trans-temporal entity in Uchronic Paris that the companions saw “in some corridor”. He remembers all his past lives: “He is in all times.”

Description
In the Buddhist tradition Mahakala is a wrathful emanation of Avalokiteshvara. In the archive he represents the successful version of the path of conscious reincarnation, the opposite of the Time Bandits: he exists simultaneously in all times with full consciousness, while they travel and accumulate catastrophes.
In Antiterra and Uchronic Paris, Mahakala is a mask or avatar of a greater entity of the shared universe. He is not a simple import of tantric Buddhism: the iconography and name are “the visible face” of something deeper in the cosmology of the shared cosmos.
