Contents
Archontean histories; treatises on the Magical Schism between Sortians and Theosophists; Thothian chronicles of the twelve Egyptian gods; material on the Heqeti (oldest alien race), the Rudishva (a later one) and the Varumani; Thothian, arcane and counter-magic; the dungeon’s factions, including the Kaliyani; possibly the Beacon, Rudishva technology, Kauket and the demon princes; and old, partly obsolete maps.
Keepers
Gerrilad the Grey, human druid and lord of the caves’ baboons, spends 38% of his time in the library, 60% in his adjoining chamber and 2% traveling the Druids’ Retreat. Diplomatic and less hostile than his baboons, he may grant the Seekers access if approached with respect.
Isocritis Half-Hand, with a severed hand, is the resident librarian; he may be a namesake of, or the same as, the halfling Isidor Half-Hand (unverified).
His albino baboons guard the library; if the mirrors of the Well of Light are repaired and lit, they lose morale.
After the Hiatus
Under Ravenloft the library may have changed: corrupted texts, new ones on Pope Alejandro Sixto and on Strahd and Barovia; Gerrilad may have died or evolved; the baboons may have turned feral or transcended; a papal sub-library may have been annexed elsewhere. The Seekers, especially Bayrum, priest of Thoth, have yet to explore it.
