Commissioner Lavín is the sheriff, enforcer and bailiff of the prince’s court in Buenas Sangres: its armed arm in the southern zone of Greater Buenos Aires, and the sire of Carmen.

Spanish entryEl comisario Lavín

Openly fascist, “a kind of western sheriff, but very nasty”, he practices the raids, torture and disappearances of the military Process for a court that never changed owners, heir to the Triple A. In the Elysium he goes masked as Capitán Spavento.

In the Lanús raid on a punk concert, when a frenzy broke the Masquerade before a hundred people, he shot Aluc in the chest, staked him and took him to trial. At a concert he also stands outside the operation as an “adviser”. He keeps illicit relics and set Acraso to guard what was stolen from the dead judge’s domain in Santa Felicitas; Acraso, the Fairy learns, answers to the sheriff, not the prince.

For the band he is both enemy and door, the only court power they can reach. By 1991 he covets the throne of José López Rega, the prince he serves; whether he means to protect, replace or bargain away the old prince remains open.
