Acraso is a vampire of the Buenas Sangres chronicle (late 1987) posted to watch the vacant domain of a drained court judge. Under interrogation he proves that the court’s armed arm is keeping what does not belong to it.
The post and the confession
After the judge was found drained, someone placed Acraso in the church of Santa Felicitas, Barracas: not to administer the domain but to watch it, “to see if they came for the things that were stolen” from the dead man. The band follows the vacant domain’s trail, captures and stakes him, and takes him to the basements of the Colón.
Wired to a knife-throwing wheel, stake withdrawn slowly, he smiles. The Tooth Fairy pulls two fangs, and he speaks. His name is Acraso. He answers not to the prince but to the sheriff. The domain was not granted to him; he was placed there on watch, guarding “the domain’s wealth, the family relics”. This is recorded. Felipe is the one accused of the crime that left the domain vacant.
Afterward
One of the coterie decides in silence that the prisoner cannot live and returns alone to the Colón to behead him. Acraso is gone. He reappears twice:
- Back at Santa Felicitas, he finds it taken by anarchists, who answer: “This is no longer your house: it is everyone’s house, the people’s house.”
- On the night of the recital he is inside the operation dressed as a sergeant, while the sheriff waits outside as an “adviser”.
