The Triple A (Argentine Anticommunist Alliance, “AAA” or “3A”) is the real Argentine organization, kept with its true years and method, which enters the 1966 gesta (campaign-cycle) through a dream: a sorcerer-commissioner who embodies the whole organization and recruits in the dream sphere beneath the Malvinas.

The apparition
The Triple A appears in the dream sphere that opens beneath the islands, the reverse of the world into which Antonio can look and where Rómulo, in his descent, seals a pact that leaves him knowing a new spell, Cenizas y diamantes (“Ashes and Diamonds”). The account comes from Rómulo’s dream descent on the night of the Claromecó lighthouse.
The figure is a super-commissioner of the federal police, seated in the office of the sorcerer López Rega. His shadow does not match his body: it moves a moment early, stays still when he turns, or falls where no light explains it. He is a sorcerer, an officiant who already belongs to the other Earth while still giving orders in this one.
The offer
He recruits with a double promise: hacer oro (“to make gold”), getting rich in the shadow of the State, and to make “certain people who think themselves immortal disappear at the right moment.” Like every pact of the islands, what is gained is paid for in one’s own sanity; each thing learned from the commissioner costs a fold of reason.
The date
The main action takes place in 1966, at the threshold of Operativo Cóndor, but the commissioner appears dressed as of 1975, nearly a decade later. Within the story this displacement is an omen: the dream shows those who descend what Argentina does not yet know awaits it, and the disappearances in his formula foreshadow the method of the coming dictatorship.
