History

Son of Frome, he guarded gates and escorted pilgrims, and became a cleric without leaving his rank.

A small red imp perched on his shoulder and spoke; unlike others, he made a pact, and was no longer whole. The Patriarch tried to straighten him through the faith of Yelmalio, god of contained sunlight, and failed. Dou-Frome raised a satanic sanctuary and lit the Candle of Invocation, still in armor — a fall that took place at the Glastumville Cathedral in Andgara.

The Lord of the Shroud (Lord Soth) then offered him the role of the new paladin the Dark Queen had ordered. Dou-Frome refused. The imp poisoned him with its bite and the Lord of the Shroud beheaded him. His body was left kneeling in the cemetery he had guarded, beside his sword, a black candle and a sealed book; his sanctuary became a dungeon.

The Promethean reading

The Rerum divinarum et humanarum of Marcos the Mage records: “Prometheus, also known as Dou Frome, stole the fire of the Sun and the secrets of duality” — Yelmalio’s fire and Dual Magic.

Conflicting accounts

  • Lord Soth beheaded him.
  • The Rerum gives two versions of his doom: some blame him for the patriarch’s murder; “those who know better” name a dark woman turned Dragon, the Dark Queen, who devoured him one hungry day.
