Frome is a figure of the primordial / Andgara period and the father of Dou-Frome, with whom he is not to be confused. The Castle of Frome is a place of its own.
In the earliest notes (1993) the character appeared as “Frodo”, a phonetic joke on Frodo of The Lord of the Rings (Tolkien was already well known by then). The name became canonical as Frome, but the reference was intentional: Frome is the analogue of Tolkien in the shared cosmos, “the grandfather of every fantasy role-playing concept, the creator”.
The “Frome Kalendar” confirms a calendar system of its own with archaic spelling. All of it suggests a reckoning devised by or for Frome, a calendar of the shared cosmos rather than of Earth, used for the primordial Andgara period.
