Atlantis is a sleeping city 400 meters under the sea, “one of the great myths of civilization”, named as the last point of a recovered route document. It sponsors beings in the cosmic game of platforms and is called “a hope”.

Name

It is on no ordinary chart, but some know where it is and know its roads, among them the sages of Uchronic Paris. The name travels encrypted by anagram and letter changes: Atlantic City is Atlantis. Some place name on a map of Antiterra is the gate.

Description

It is dormant and intermittent: sometimes, above all with an icy cold, it is “out of phase”.

  • In dreams: a twilight, an angel going toward a bowl or “a kind of place of water”.
  • In visions of the Aion: “a city that lives on the water”, eaten by “a dark mist”, being corrupted.
  • Interstellar: one voice says, “I am in mother Atlantis: interstellar”.

The three versions are not reconciled.

Access

On the road four demons must be killed before the passage is found. It admits by letter of invitation (“I have an invitation, but you are not invited”), handled institutionally and obtainable from a holder. Even an arrival may find it out of phase.

Inhabitants

It has a king, who existed a hundred years before the platform game; a guardian, an office one aspires to; ruling factions and aquatic powers; and at least one spa, where Antonia spent her last months. Its people do not use the teleportation of dual magic.

Role

It sponsors beings in the platform game (“without wanting to take part, we are sponsored by Atlantis”), granting a quadruple of power that opens only on the next platform. An emissary claims authority over the platforms and guardians, without naming his principal. It “could resurface or not” in Antiterra. A city of its, extinguished by Sigil, is being replaced by another.

Open questions

  • Its interior beyond the spa is undescribed.
  • What “the sprout of Atlantis” being built in the demiplane is.
  • Who issues the invitations; what the four demons are, where, and what they guard.
  • Which city Sigil extinguished and which replaces it; what “recovering it and setting it with the hosts we have left” means.
